[ad_pod ]Per a tweet from journalist Phil McNulty, Aston Villa have been having a look at West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi after watching him in action alongside Trezeguet at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Albion defender was one of the unfortunate members of the Egyptian team knocked out of their home tournament by South Africa but a return to the Premier League could be on the cards for the centre-back.

And reacting to the news on Twitter, Villa fans were far from convinced about potentially landing the Baggies man.

One supporter claimed he was woeful whilst another hoped the report was simply a wind-up.

A further fan suggested that Kortney Hause was better and another ripped into the Egypt international by claiming he was one of the reasons West Brom got relegated.

Hegazi featured 40 times for his side in the Championship last term and was in impressive form, winning a colossal 4.1 aerial duels per game.

He made a further 6.1 clearances whilst popping up with a solitary goal and two assists as well.

But despite that good record in the second tier, Villa fans are strongly against the idea of him moving across the Midlands.

Here's the best of the reaction.
