West Bromwich Albion fell to just their second Championship defeat of the season on Sunday as they were beaten 2-0 by Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies were top of the table and had only lost one of their 24 league fixtures going into the clash against Jonathan Woodgate's men, but they weren't really at the races all afternoon as they relinquished their spot at the summit to Leeds United – albeit only on goal difference.

Egypt international defender Ahmed Hegazi was only making his third start of the campaign in England's second tier following injury issues, before then having to be patient and waiting for his chance behind Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi in the pecking order.

However, he was handed his second successive start against Boro despite the former returning to the squad following injury, as Slaven Bilic kept the faith with the 2017 Tony Pulis signing after he got 90 minutes under his belt in the 1-1 draw with Barnsley.
