West Brom have had a reasonably good start to life in the Championship having been relegated from the Premier League last season and currently sit in ninth place in the second tier of English football.
Darren Moore made eight signings in the summer and almost all of them seem to have hit the ground running for the Baggies, although one position the 44-year-old failed to address was central midfield. Jake Livermore will most likely play almost every game this season, but Chris Brunt has been deployed alongside him so far and the 33-year-old has looked like the weak link in the West Brom side.
Brunt has been off the pace and no longer has the legs to keep up with the high-tempo in the Championship, and the same could be said for 37-year-old Gareth Barry and even 32-year-old James Morrison.
The player who should be replacing Brunt in Moore’s starting XI is youngster Sam Field. The 20-year-old is currently with Paul Simpson’s England U20 squad and made his debut for the Baggies back in the 2015/16 season. A classy young centre-mid, he has all the attributes to take over from Brunt in the game against Birmingham after the international break.
So, Baggies fans, do you agree that Brunt should be dropped for Field? Have your say by voting in our poll below.
