Incoming West Brom boss wants ex-Liverpool striker

Tony Pulis is ready to use the funds he’s been promised at West Brom to take Stoke‘s Peter Crouch to the club this month, according to reports from The Mirror.

The ex-Crystal Palace chief is expected to be announced as the Baggies’ new head coach this week following the exit of Alan Irvine.

West Brom owner Jeremy Peace is understood to have offered him a £2m-per-year contract – the highest in the club’s history – and is ready to back his incoming man in the transfer market.

Pulis is already thought to have a list of targets in mind, with his former star Crouch on the agenda.

The 33-year-old is out of contract at the Britannia Stadium at the end of the season and is likely to be available for a cut-rice fee.

Pulis signed the beanpole striker while at Stoke in 2011 in a £10m deal and is rumoured to see him as the ideal man to add presence up front as he plots to keep his new side clear of relegation.

The former Palace chief – who was manager of the season last term – is understood to also be chasing wide-men, with Jason Puncheon and Matt Jarvis options.
