Shane Long is reportedly set to turn down a move abroad this summer in the hope West Brom will offer him an acceptable new deal.
The Republic of Ireland international will enter the final year of his contract next season and so far there has been little movement over a new deal for the 26-year-old.
As a result a number of teams from across the continent have taken an interest in Long, with German duo Hoffenheim and Schalke joining a growing list recently.
Albion sporting and technical director Richard Garlick recently flew to Ireland to hold talks with Long’s representatives but not much progress was made.
Despite the two parties being at loggerheads Long is reportedly happy to stay with the Baggies for the rest of the year in the hope a new contract can be agreed.
