Chris Brunt has been a man in form since James Shan took caretaker charge of West Brom and his influential displays in recent weeks continued against Preston last Saturday.

The midfielder was at his best as he picked up an assist, playing a sensational ball in behind which was then finished beautifully by Dwight Gayle who also happened to claim a hat-trick.

Watching the footage of Brunt's assist back, Baggies fans were left drooling over the quality of the pass.

Comparisons were made to Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne and Real Madrid's Luka Modric, whilst one fan claimed that if Lionel Messi had done it then the world would have imploded.

Another tweeter called him a Baggies legend and called for a new contract to be sorted for the club captain.

The 34-year-old has played in 29 Championship matches so far this season, scoring twice. Last weekend's assist meanwhile took his tally to five for the current term.

Here's the best of the reaction to his pass.
