Predicted XI: How West Brom could line up if Slaven Bilic is appointed

As another week commences, it appears as though West Brom are still no closer to finding a new manager.

Following on from the sacking of Darren Moore there have been a number of targets in Albion’s thoughts with an initial four man shortlist being drawn up.

However, last week the club spoke to former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic over the possibility of managing at the Hawthorns.

The club are reportedly also keen to speak to Charlton manager Lee Bowyer after his successful promotion winning campaign with the Addicks last term.

But, if the Baggies move for Bilic instead, how could they line up? We’ve had a go at predicting who could be in his starting XI.

The Croatian’s squad would likely witness a huge upheaval if he did arrive. After player releases, Technical Director Luke Dowling confirmed that as many as five players could leave, meaning that Albion will be in need of a rebuild.

Leading the line in this squad is Oliver Burke. With Dwight Gayle not returning and Jay Rodriguez also possibly walking through the exit door, this could be an ideal time for the Scot to step up.

Having played as a striker at Celtic, this is a role that could be where he revives his West Brom career.

In attacking midfield is Jonny Williams. Last week Wales Online revealed that he had been offered to West Brom so given the lack of creativity in the side, he could slot straight in if he did sign for the club.

Also in the team are youngsters Kyle Edwards and Sam Field, two individuals that could benefit most from the amount of change the Midlands club will probably undergo this summer.

Defensively is where things may look significantly different. Kieran Gibbs, Ahmed Hegazi and Craig Dawson could all depart considering the quality they’ve shown and the need to cut back. That means Conor Townsend comes in at left back whilst Kyle Bartley features at centre-half.

Alongside him is Barnsley’s Liam Lindsay. The Scottish Sun suggested last week that the Baggies were interested in the central defender who has been impressive for the Tykes over the last two years.

Despite suffering relegation with them in 2017/18, he was a rock at the back.

Albion have a real lack of right backs at the moment so Allan Nyom could return after his loan spell in Spain to start behind Matt Phillips.
