Reid claims there are No Odemwingie issues

Peter Odemwingie West Brom forwardWest Brom defender Steven Reid has played down rumours that Peter Odemwingie’s actions during the January transfer window will disrupt the squad.

The Nigerian forward drove to Loftus Road on deadline day in a bid to force through a move to QPR.

However, there was no agreement between the club’s, forcing the striker to return to the Midlands.

Odemwingie missed the Baggies’ weekend loss to Tottenham, with the club’s hierarchy still dealing with the saga.

Despite the headlines, Reid insisted that he does not have a problem with his team-mate’s actions, and went on to state that the rest of squad will welcome him back:

“It (Odemwingie’s behaviour) is not the way I’d go about doing things and I’m sure it’s not the way a lot of other lads would, but these things happen in football.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.

“Will we welcome him back? We’ll have to see and it’s up to the club how they deal with it.

“But if it does happen I’m sure we’ll get on with it and there might come a point in the campaign when he’s needed.”

He went on to claim that Odemwingie’s behaviour hasn’t had a great effect on the dressing room:

“We’ve got a strong group with a lot of leaders in the dressing room who have good, strong characters,”

“It’s a matter that the club are dealing with now and I’m not sure what the outcome will be. It’s up to them how they deal with that.”

Odemwingie was heavily linked with a move to QPR last month, with reports circulating that Super Hoops manager Harry Redknapp was willing to double the player’s salary to force through a move.
