Revealed: 72% of West Brom fans would not want Elphick to replace Dawson

Although Darren Moore is likely to want to keep the core of his West Bromwich Albion squad together as he gears up for a bid to make an instant return to the Premier League, the fact that Craig Dawson has reportedly handed in a transfer request makes it increasingly likely that the Englishman will depart this summer.

Dawson’s countryman Ben Foster has already departed the West Midlands to return to the Premier League with former club Watford and Moore must fear that the defender, who enjoyed an impressive campaign despite the Baggies’ relegation, will follow the goalkeeper out of the exit door.

Therefore, it makes sense to prepare for that eventuality and Football FanCast suggested that the solution may not lie too far away, across town with Midlands rivals Aston Villa, in the shape of outcast defender Tommy Elphick.

However, the poll we put out would indicate that the club’s fans are not quite so keen as 72 per cent of them urge their club not to consider a swoop for Elphick to replace Dawson, as you can see below.
