According to Alfredo Pedulla, West Ham and West Brom are battling to sign 32-year-old midfielder Carlos Sanchez from Italian side Fiorentina, but it is clear that Baggies fans are not keen.

The defensively minded midfielder is valued at just £1.35m by Transfermarkt, but his catastrophic spell with Aston Villa between 2014 and 2017 proved that he was not suited to play in England.

The Colombian was often caught in possession and struggled to find teammates with passes while at Villa Park but does have 88 international caps and played at this summer's World Cup for his country.

Sanchez spent the second half of last season on loan in La Liga with Espanyol, making 14 appearances during which he picked up three yellow cards, with discipline often a problem for him.

Amid rumours of his return to England, we asked West Brom fans whether they would like the club to sign Carlos Sanchez but only 23 per cent were keen on seeing the midfielder partner Jake Livermore at the Hawthorns.
