West Brom defender Allan Nyom is set to join Spanish side Leganes on a season-long loan deal, according to John Percy from The Telegraph on Twitter, and a move away from the West Midlands will benefit all parties involved.

What's the story?

Nyom's performances in his two Championship appearances so far this season have been below par, despite him registering an assist on the opening weekend against Bolton.

The 30-year-old has looked leggy and off the pace since the Baggies relegation from the Premier League, especially with the sprightly Harvey Barnes and Matt Phillips in front of him.

After joining from Watford for £4m in the summer of 2016, Nyom excelled out of position at left-back during the 2016/17 season as West Brom finished tenth in the Premier League. However, like most of the Baggies squad, he was heavily criticised last season as Darren Moore's miracles failed to keep the Baggies from being relegated.

Social media abuse

Despite his recent poor performances, there has been no excuse for the abuse that Nyom has received recently on social media. The Birmingham Mail reported that after being targeted on Instagram, he replied: “No worry, I’m leaving soon”.

Although the switch is temporary, if the Cameroon international impresses there is no reason why he shouldn't earn himself a permanent move to a league that is perhaps better suited to him.

Centre-backs Craig Dawson and Tosin Adarabioyo, who is on loan from Manchester City, can both play in Nyom's position at right-back but Baggies fans will be hoping the move for Nyom means that the club are set to make a new loan signing.
