West Bromwich Albion return to league action this weekend, and they do so still holding the acclaim of being the best team in the Championship.

Slaven Bilic's men host Sheffield Wednesday at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon with a lot of question marks surrounding his potential team selection, most notably because they will be without the services of both captain Jake Livermore and midfield partner Romaine Sawyers.

The Croatian also has the difficult decision over who starts in attack - Charlie Austin only has one goal all campaign, Hal Robson-Kanu failed to take his opportunity last time out after netting three goals in four substitute appearances while Kenneth Zohore has rarely been seen since making an £8m summer switch from Cardiff City.

Albion are the second-highest scorers in the division, so on the face of it, goalscoring seems not to be an issue. However, when you delve deeper, you'll soon learn that the trio above have only netted six between them.

By comparison, winger Matty Phillips, who only bagged five last term, has already hit six himself, per WhoScored, and if you throw in Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira's contributions too, then their contribution accounts for 82% of all scored in the league.

The January transfer window is still a couple of months away, so Bilic will have to wait to try and rectify that problem if they do have any targets in mind, but maybe he should be taking inspiration from himself and trust his managerial abilities.

West Brom have quite a promising youth setup and amongst that is the prolific Jamie Soule, who has continued from last season's goalscoring exploits of 16 goals in 29 appearances with five goals from nine Premier League 2 matches.

The 18-year-old may be young, inexperienced, and very raw, but based on how Nathan Ferguson and Kyle Edwards have transitioned into Championship-ready players in the small space of a few months should be enough to suggest that Bilic can again do wonders.

Ferguson's performances have attracted the interest of Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid, and had it not been for the Croatian, then he would most likely be in the U23 setup or out on loan.

It remains to be seen whether Soule has the ability to transcend the Baggies' fortunes in front of goal, but there's no harm in trying - the three senior men ahead of him have hardly set the Championship alight.
