West Bromwich Albion's reported interest in Lyle Taylor has been confirmed this week after the striker had a contract offer withdrawn from his grasp.

What's he said?

The 29-year-old failed to respond to the new owners at Charlton Athletic even despite a new deal handing him a raise in salary and lucrative loyalty incentives, according to South London News.

It had been previously reported, prior to this latest update, that the Baggies were one of several Championship teams chasing his signature.

Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas has since confirmed Albion's interest in Taylor after a fan questioned whether or not it carried genuine potential.

He said:

Is he worth pursuing?

Slaven Bilic claimed that he would only make signing this month if they can add 'extra quality' to his current squad, although his hand may be forced given the dubious futures of Nathan Ferguson and Grady Diangana, per the Express & Star.

According to The Athletic, the Baggies still retain interest in former loan star Dwight Gayle, but they are likely to be priced out of any move as the striker would cost in excess of £15m and his wages already put them off in the summer as he's reportedly on £50k-per-week.

Taylor is likely a cheaper alternative with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, and although he's not officially on the transfer list, the Addicks hierarchy are willing to listen to offers as it is the final chance they can recoup any sort of fee on him.

This opens the door for Bilic if he wishes to indeed pursue him with Taylor confirming the club's interest.

He's scored seven times in the league this season, which is the same amount as summer signing Charlie Austin and more than both Hal Robson-Kanu and Kenneth Zohore this season, per WhoScored. He's even been out injured for a substantial period of time too.

It's the dawn of a new decade in the Premier League, but how much do you know about the last 10 years?

However, West Brom can do much better as Taylor will have turned 30 before the end of the season, potentially meaning three of their four options in attack are entering the twilight years of their careers.
