It has lead to the possibility of the club selling him this month so that they don't miss out on any fee later this summer when his contract expires.

Bilic decided to play young defender Dara O'Shea at right-back and the move paid off with fans absolutely lapping up the Irishman's performance.

Just like Ferguson, O'Shea played centre-back for the U23 side - and even featured there when called upon for his debut a few weeks ago - but Bilic made a bold call to try him on the right-hand side.

The similarities are so clear to see, and that's something that will put the Baggies in good stead if Ferguson does indeed leave the club this month.

Several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have been linked to the England U20 international.

But maybe Bilic can afford to lose him after O'Shea's performance at right-back. He did keep a clean sheet after all.
