West Brom defender looks to maintain form

Liam Ridgewell West Brom defenderWest Brom defender Liam Ridgewell insists that his side remain firmly grounded following their spectacular start to the season.

The Baggies have been the Premier League‘s surprise package so far and managed to put together a run of results that saw them prop up third place on Saturday.

They have moved down to fourth following a defeat at the Liberty stadium to Swansea on Wednesday night, but the defender admitted that the players aren’t too worried about this brief setback.

Ridgewell insists the loss was not down to complacency and that the West midlands outfit are working just as hard as ever to try and secure as many points as possible.

He insists that aim is still to reach the magic 40 points and enough to ensure survival before they can start dreaming of Europe and top half finishes.

Albion take on Stoke tomorrow and the left back is aware that the Potters are the kind of side they need to emulate, with Tony Pulis’ side being a mainstay in the Premier League in recent years.

“Our home form has been good, we have to make sure we are right on it,” Ridgewell told the Birmingham Mail.

“We know we’re a good team but we don’t listen to anything other people say.

“We know what we’re about and our own aims within the club.

“We don’t listen to anyone outside of the club. We’ll carry on doing what we’ve got to do.

“What we have to do is make sure we stay in this league for next season.

“That’s our main objective and once we get to that we can kick on and more is a bonus.”
