West Brom desperate to keep on-loan star

Morgan Amalfitano (West Brom)West Brom are looking at activating a clause to keep weekend hero Morgan Amalfitano at the club beyond his season-long loan, according to reports from The Mirror.

The French winger scored a magnificent goal to help the Baggies claim a shock 2-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 28-year-old also netted in his previous Premier League outing – a 3-0 win over hapless basement dwellers Sunderland.

Despite him being just weeks into his loan spell at the Hawthorns, manager Steve Clarke is already keen to activate a clause in the deal to make him a permanent signing.

It is believed that there is an agreement in place with Marseille that will allow West Brom to push through a transfer even if the Ligue 1 giants want the players back.

Amalfitano has made a fine start to life in the Midlands which was capped with a wonderful sole effort against United.

The wide-man ran from inside his own half, beat Rio Ferdinand and lifted a delicate chip over the helpless David de Gea.

Amalfitano’s younger brother Romain is also a Premier League star and is currently on the books at Newcastle.

Should West Brom move to keep Morgan Amalfitano? Or is it too early?
