West Brom’s nine-game run without defeat came to an end at the hands of Leeds on Tuesday evening.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side came out on top with a 1-0 victory which saw them leapfrog the west Midlands side to take sole possession of the Championship lead.

United left-back Ezgjan Alioski scored the only goal of the game to clinch all three points as his effort deflected in via Baggies centre-back Kyle Bartley just before half-time.

Albion mounted a charge in the second half to try and salvage at least a point, but it came to no avail despite managing over 70% possession for the final half an hour.

Neither Hal Robson-Kanu or Kenneth Zohore could make an impact up front for the Baggies as Slaven Bilic opted to keep £4m man Charlie Austin on the bench throughout the entirety of the game.

Their ineffectiveness in front of goal has led to much of the Hawthorns faithful all wondering the same thing.

What if Dwight Gayle was part of this team?

He has already been linked to a return to the west Midlands in recent times and is currently rated at £13.5m, per Transfermarkt.

One supporter pondered what the score would have been if the Newcastle United striker had featured while another claimed the 28-year-old could be the missing ingredient in the team.

A further fan believed the club have a great chance of promotion this season if they can clinch Gayle in January.
