According to Express and Star, Southampton outcast Charlie Austin is in talks with West Brom over a potential deadline day move in what could be one of a few deals struck out at the Hawthorns today - with loan deals for Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira also likely per the report.

The possible switch from the South Coast has left many fans in the West Midlands rather torn over whether they would actually like the 30-year-old at the club this season.

Austin has been frozen out at Southampton since the arrival of striker Che Adams this summer and last season he was only able to make 11 starts in 25 Premier League appearances, so a move to West Brom could give him the game time he desires.

Slaven Bilic appears desperate to add another forward option having lost a trio of attacking talent in Dwight Gayle, Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon this off-season.

Austin has an impressive record in the Championship having scored 66 goals in 129 games for both Burnley and Queen's Park Rangers though his last campaign at that level was back in the 2015/16 season.

A number of the Baggies' faithful have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on a possible deal.

One fan said he wanted to be pleased but he had doubts over the Englishman's injury record whilst another supporter shared similar sentiments by saying he would be excited by a fit Austin but his previous history with injuries speaks for itself.

However, others believed the 30-year-old would be a good signing as he is a direct replacement for Rodriguez.

Here's the best of the reaction:
