The Express and Star reported on Monday that West Brom winger James McClean, rated at £2.7m by Transfermarkt, had not turned up for the club’s pre-season training camp in Scotland and will be fined by the West Midlands club.
Stoke City have had a £4m bid rejected for the Irishman already this summer and his decision to miss Albion’s trip to St Andrew’s University in Fife seems to suggest that he will not be playing his football at the Hawthorns next season.
The 29-year-old signed for West Brom from Wigan in the summer of 2015 and has since made 112 appearances for the club, scoring just five goals and providing seven assists in that time.
With this poor return for an attacking winger and several questions about his attitude over the last couple of years, many West Brom fans will not be disappointed to see the back of McClean if he signs for Gary Rowett’s Stoke side this summer.
However, they have been fuming on Twitter about his absence from the training camp and the way he is going about trying to force a move. Check out some of their reactions below.
No idea how we will cope without James McClean next season. Who’s going to give away all those last minute/edge of our box/dangerous free kicks now?

Time and again I stood up for James McClean and then he does this. IT’S YOUR JOB. That’s why the magic money fairy comes along and stuffs £30,000 a week in your wallet. You’re not bigger than the club.

Just found out that James McClean refused to show up to the Baggies training camp in Scotland and will now be fined.
Quite frankly, I'm glad he's leaving. He's had this petulant attitude ever since he joined the club. I just hope Stoke fans are ready to put up with his antics.

So James McClean only a few months ago praised Darren Moore for making him feel like a footballer again and now he refuses to attend a pre season training camp. He’s lucky to be at a club like west brom cuz it’s a level above what he should be playing #clown
