On Tuesday night, West Brom faced a second game in the space of a week against Millwall but this time it was in the Carabao Cup which meant Baggies boss Slaven Bilic rotated his side.

One of the changes saw young Dara O'Shea earn a start in at the heart of the defence alongside Semi Ajayi, to make his senior debut for the club.

The 20-year-old has risen through the ranks in the academy setup and has enjoyed two spells away from the club, firstly with Hereford United and then with Exeter City last season where he made a name for himself.

He made 33 appearances down in Devon, resulting in a call up to the Republic of Ireland under-21 squad - Exeter boss Matt Taylor believes the starlet "could go all the way" in the game.

Even though the Baggies were defeated, it appears that O'Shea's showing was a shining light with many fans that left the Hawthorns on Tuesday night praising him.

One supporter said it was one of the best debuts he had seen in years which was echoed by another who said it was like watching a young Jonny Evans.

O'Shea was also described as being one of the three best players on the pitch after he looked extremely composed. A further fan stated that he could make his mark this season and beyond as a result.
