West Brom fans react to potential loan exit of Rekeem Harper

West Brom fans have been left discussing Rekeem Harper after the young midfielder was linked with a temporary exit from the Hawthorns this week.

According to a report in The Sun on Sunday (19th January, page 65), several Championship clubs are interested in signing the 19-year-old on loan, including title rivals and promotion rivals Leeds United and Fulham, as well as Queens Park Rangers and Charlton Athletic.

It remains to be seen whether or not the academy prospect will see the season out at the Hawthorns, but it hasn’t stopped supporters giving their two cents on the matter.

Several were of the belief that manager Slaven Bilic simply wouldn’t let the midfielder depart for the likes of Leeds and Fulham…

“Garbage” was one term used to describe the reports whilst another said it would make no sense to hand him to a promotion rival.

Others warmed to the idea of both QPR and Charlton as they are much further afield in the Championship table.

While one further supporter hoped he would play more under Bilic in the first team instead of sending him out on loan.

This was echoed by more sections of the Hawthorns faithful, though some were even happy to see him sold…

Charlton seems like an ideal destination as their boss, Lee Bowyer, plays a youthful side that gives an opportunity to kids, according to one fan while another claimed a loan in the same division would make the most sense.

A couple of others said he should go to QPR with one claiming he should be sold to them.

And then there were fans describing the 19-year-old in general after a serious lack of game time so far this campaign…

One referenced his undoubted talent, and on the contrary, another member of the Baggies faithful brandished him as ‘lazy.’

Harper has played just six minutes in the league this season with his last appearance coming in the FA Cup third-round, coincidentally against the Addicks, who must’ve been impressed by him as Bilic certainly was after lauding him as an ‘asset.’

Should Rekeem Harper be loaned out?

The next opportunity for the youngster to play could be their fourth-round tie with West Ham this weekend, but for now, it remains to be seen if he will be at Albion for the foreseeable future.

While in other news, another academy hopeful could be at risk if West Brom clinch this prolific 19-goal marksman this month…
