West Brom join Newcastle in battle for Burnley ace

West Brom are set to go head-to-head with Newcastle and Leicester for the signature of Burnley‘s Danny Ings in January, according to reports from The Sun.

The Clarets hit-man – who fired the club to promotion last term – has adapted well to Premier League football, but his future at Turf Moor is far from clear.

Although Sean Dyche wants to keep the England U-21 international, Ings’ current contract expires at the end of the season, which has alerted a host of clubs.

Leicester are understood to have already made a £7.5m offer for the marksman, while Newcastle are also keen, and now West Brom are another side in the running.

Baggies boss Alan Irvine is keen to add more firepower to his ranks, and with Saido Berahino also attracting interest from other clubs, the addition of a fresh forward to challenge Ideye Brown may be a wise move from the Midlanders.

Burnley are aware that they may be unable to keep their man should they slip to relegation, so selling next month instead of allowing him to leave for free may make more sense for the newly promoted side.
