West Brom make goal-machine striker approach, club-record-breaking £25m offer needed

West Brom have made enquiries for Sporting CP’s lethal striker Islam Slimani, but the Portuguese club want £25m for their man, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Baggies have endured a quiet summer of transfer activity, with Matt Phillips’ arrival from QPR the only incoming deal to have taken place at The Hawthorns.

However, with the Midlands club’s Chinese takeover now sealed it’s likely that there will be further additions, and reports claim that Slimani is a player they want.

The Algeria international netted an impressive 27 goals in Primeira Liga action last season as the Lisbon side finished runners-up to Benfica in the title race.

His performances and goal return have naturally attracted interest, and it’s understood that West Brom are keen as Tony Pulis searches for a striker to play alongside Salomon Rondon.

The Throstles have also been linked with Liverpool outcast Christian Benteke.
