According to The Telegraph, Stoke City are keen on signing Leicester's Premier League winner Danny Simpson, but West Brom should hijack any potential deal to solve their current right-back crisis.

What's the story?

Simpson has fallen behind Daniel Amartey and new signing Ricardo Pereira in the pecking order at the King Power, and boss Claude Puel needs to cut four senior players from his 25-man squad.

The 31-year-old has been at Leicester since his move from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2014, and starred in the 2015/16 campaign where Leicester stunned the world to win the Premier League.

According to the Leicester Mercury, Wolves made an approach to sign the Englishman on the Premier League's deadline day, but a deal failed to materialise.

Right-back crisis

With the loan window still open for English Football League clubs until the end of August, West Brom must hijack any deal that Stoke attempt to make for Simpson in order to solve Darren Moore's issues at right-back.

Full-back Allan Nyom has joined Spanish side Leganes on a season-long loan deal, following two poor Championship performances so far this season.

However, Nyom's exit means the Baggies' only options at right-back will be to play centre-backs Craig Dawson or Tosin Adarabioyo out of position, unless Moore makes a move in the transfer market.

Simpson would be an impressive signing who certainly has enough left in the tank to be a success in the Championship, and West Brom boss Moore must make sure he isn't allowed to join league rivals Stoke City.
