West Bromwich Albion moved one step closer to promotion to the Premier League on Tuesday night as they overcame Preston North End at The Hawthorns.

On paper, this should have been a very tough match for the Baggies with Preston sitting sixth in the table, but in the end, Albion made easy work of the Lancashire outfit.

It was a strong performance from the whole team. Hal-Robson Kanu deserves a lot of credit for his goal and assist, Semi Ajayi was a rock at the back winning 10 aerial duels, but there was one man who stole the show on Tuesday.

Indeed, Callum Robinson was at his brilliant best against the Lilywhites, and he once again proved that the Midlands club were absolutely spot on last month when bringing him in on loan.

The Sheffield United loanee was an absolute nuisance for the Preston backline.

The winger bombarded the opposition goal as he had five shots, with three of those being on target.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t find the net with any of those attempts, but he did manage to set up a goal, providing a beautiful assist for Robson-Kanu's opener.

The winger also played a huge role in the Baggies’ second goal.

A brilliant cross from Robinson once again found Robson-Kanu in space, the Welshman then chested the ball down into the path of Jake Livermore who slammed home.

Robinson would again cause his former club problems, drawing the foul that saw Darnell Fisher sent off in the second half.

This really was a masterclass from the attacker, but he doesn’t deserve all the credit.

Luke Dowling is the mastermind behind bringing the 25-year-old into the club last month, and it’s proven to be an absolute stroke of genius.

This is especially the case when you consider the poor business Albion did last January in regards to their transfer business. After Harvey Barnes left, Dowling was poor in the market as the Baggies brought in Jefferson Montero and Jacob Murphy who contributed to just four goals between them.

Robinson is already close to eclipsing that, registering two goals and an assist. Dowling deserves plenty of plaudits for sealing a man who's made West Brom even stronger for the back end of the campaign.

In other news, one West Brom signing isn’t providing value for money.
