The race for automatic promotion to the Premier League continues to take another twist.

After being pegged back to 1-1 thanks to a Kyle Bartley own goal, West Brom may have been fearing the worst about dropping some valuable points in the race for automatic promotion.

And despite Nottingham Forest's Tobias Figueiredo repaying the favour by putting through his own net, Matty Cash scored a last-gasp equaliser to spoil the party and deny the Baggies from taking all three points.

One man who certainly didn't enjoy the greatest of games, was Romaine Sawyers. As per Sofascore, the midfielder won just three of his eight total duels, was dribbled past three times and finished with a match rating of 6.4.

After seeing his performance, West Brom fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the 28-year-old.

A couple of fans seemed to take issue with Sawyers' work off the ball, with one supporter suggesting he was "invisible on the transitions", and another simply insisting he "doesn't seem to know how to press".

Another couple of supporters felt Sawyers' confidence has appeared to have disappeared, with one fan revealing how that's affected his style of play.

Sawyers has been a virtual ever-present for Slaven Bilic this season, making 32 appearances across all competitions. And whenever he's started a match in the Championship, he has completed the full 90 minutes in each and every one of them.

On Saturday afternoon however, Bilic should surely have considered taking off his central midfielder. The 28-year-old struggled to impose himself in the engine room for the Baggies, and as a couple of fans noticed, seemed to get lost in the transitions.

Are you a Championship expert? How much did each of these big-money signings cost?

The West Brom boss will be hoping that Sawyers can get back to his best form as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, West Brom may need to rethink their contract offer for this player.
