According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden has pleaded with Rafael Benitez to let him leave Tyneside after submitting a transfer request at the start of the summer.
Hayden has asked to leave the club to be closer to his family on the south coast after complications with the birth of his daughter forced his partner to move.
The 23-year-old made 26 appearances in the Premier League last season and scored his only goal in a 2-2 draw away at Southampton. He joined the Magpies from Arsenal in 2016 having made just two senior appearances for the Gunners.
Newcastle have however already let midfielders Mikel Merino and Jack Colback leave the club this summer and have so far only brought in Ki Sung-yueng in the same position.
The Echo also reported that Brighton have expressed interest in a £10m deal for Hayden, but if a move that close to his family doesn’t come up, newly relegated West Brom could offer him a deal that at least gets him closer and would also give the defensive midfielder good game time.
Baggies boss Darren Moore will be looking for a long-term replacement for Gareth Barry, who is now 37-years-old, and for someone who will be able to play alongside Jake Livermore.
Valued at £6.3m by Transfermarkt, Hayden would be the perfect signing as West Brom look to bounce straight back to the Premier League.
