West Brom head coach Slaven Bilic has revealed intriguing insight into how he masterminded their victory over Millwall on Sunday afternoon.

What's he said?

The Baggies moved four points clear in the Championship as they clinched all three points in south London yesterday.

Filip Krovinovic opened the scoring with a curled attempt from outside the penalty area right before half-time before young defender Dara O'Shea headed home the winner with six minutes left on the clock.

In his post-match press conference, Bilic spoke about his tactical decisions.

He said:

“We changed it because we didn’t want their players to come close to the halfway line and then from there to play long balls to Smith, and then they run behind and it’s mayday.

“The ball comes into your box and it’s mayhem. Those two midfielders, Krov and Jake, had the license to get at the centre backs, with Hal of course. That’s what they did and it worked really well.

"We are not Barcelona, we are a fighting team. We are West Bromwich Albion, a team that gives everything. On top of that, we have players who are better with the ball than without, but that doesn’t mean we won’t fight. They fought.

"Filip Krovinovic was winning balls in the air, not only him - Pereira and everybody. Only then, their quality can be decisive. Otherwise, you can forget about your quality.”

Title potential?

The fact that Albion went on a seven-game winless run and are somehow now four points clear at the top speaks volumes about their chances of success this season.

Bilic has now steered his side to back-to-back victories since the transfer window slammed shut last month, so their three new arrivals have already provided a boost whether that's with their own impact on the pitch or helping improve the form of others.

Leeds are continuing to crumble, which has allowed the chasing pack in the playoffs back in with two points separating second to fifth whilst West Brom have got back on track with successive wins.

The Croatian's comments also provide further encouragement as it shows the Baggies boss can alter his tactics and switch things up depending on the occasion and the opponent, which will stand them in good stead for any challenge thrown their way as they embark on the final stages of their title run-in.
