West Brom supporters have been reacting to what could potentially be their first piece of transfer business this month.

The Baggies reportedly hold interest in free agent Martin Olsson as Slaven Bilic looks to strengthen his defensive options.

According to Swedish news outlet Expressen, contract talks between the two parties are at an advanced stage, while the Express & Star believe he is merely training with the side with a view to signing on.

It remains to be seen whether or not the left-back is indeed a serious option to join Albion, but supporters have been debating the prospect of seeing him play at the Hawthorns.

Plenty in the west Midlands appeared to be against the move, starting with this fan who brandished it the 'most underwhelming January signing we could make.'

Others hinged on Olsson's injury history and lack of playing time as the 31-year-old hasn't featured since December 2018.

A ruptured Achilles ruled him out for the season whilst under contract at Swansea City, where he was released in the summer.

The Swedish defender has been without a club since then.

One claimed Olsson was a bigger sick note than Kieran Gibbs, who himself faces an extended period on the sidelines over the next month or so, thus leading to manager Slaven Bilic making a move like this.

He was also labelled 'biscuit legs' and 'injury-prone' by others.

Some supporters also considered the prospect of playing Chris Brunt there instead...

However, not everyone was totally against the move with many seeing is a smart addition with suitable cover needed for Gibbs.

'Useful' and 'decent' were two words used to describe Olsson.

One supporter was quick to laud Dowling for making such a decision while others noted Olsson's experience in the English game.

Per Transfermarkt, the veteran defender has made 197 appearances in the Premier League and has also featured 107 times in the second tier across spells with Swansea, Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers.
