Nathan Ferguson looked set and ready to move to Crystal Palace on Thursday, but with just over 12 hours left of the January transfer window, there has been a hiccup in the London club’s pursuit of the full-back.

The 19-year-old has already undergone a medical with the Eagles, but it wasn’t a straightforward procedure as the Selhurst Park outfit noticed a slight issue that has put doubt in their minds.

What’s been said then?

Dominic Fifield was contributing to The Athletic’s deadline day live blog, and he provided the latest news on the defender’s move to Palace.

“Nathan Ferguson's arrival from West Bromwich Albion has been delayed over a fitness issue, but the club is deciding this morning whether to push on with the deal regardless given the teenager's clear potential,” he said.

“The player had travelled down to London on Wednesday and undertook a medical, but was back at West Brom's training ground yesterday waiting to hear how Palace would proceed.”

Bad for the Baggies

This is terrible news for West Brom from a financial standpoint.

It had been reported that the Midlands side could receive up to £10m for Ferguson, but if this deal doesn’t happen there are only a few hours for them to find a suitor.

The full-back’s contract is up at the end of the season, and he’s made it clear that he won’t be staying, so the Baggies must hope that they can move him on at some point today.
