West Brom just can’t be defeated – as of yet anyway.

Slaven Bilic’s side made it eight straight Championship matches without a loss as they sent Huddersfield Town back to Yorkshire with a 4-2 victory, condemning them to further woes at the bottom of the table.

The Baggies’ impressive start to life under the Croatian sees them sit fourth in the table, only one point behind the league-leading pair Leeds United and Swansea City.

Though not everything is completely perfect as the team are yet to record a clean sheet, something that isn’t troubling the west Midlands club too much yet as they haven’t tasted defeat either.

Summer signing Semi Ajayi has been an absolute bargain in the heart of the defence and with Ahmed Hegazi soon to be returning having played for the U23s this week, there could be a change on the horizon.

On the Chalkboard

The Egypt international is likely to come straight back in to replace Kyle Bartley as Bilic will look to put a stop to his side constantly leaking goals – Hegazi played 40 matches last season as West Brom made the playoffs.

There is an argument to say that the 28-year-old hasn’t done much wrong to be dropped as he is averaging a WhoScored rating of 6.81 this season, but the man next to him, Semi Ajayi, has earned far too many plaudits from supporters to be dropped himself.

On top of that, the former Swansea centre-back proved he may not be up to scratch in the Croatian’s passing system of football. Despite achieving a success rate north of 87% the occasional misplaced pass has proved to be catastrophic for the centre-back.

Against Huddersfield, it was his error which gave them the lead for the second time in the match.

Bartley tried to play a pass that simply wasn’t on, handing the ball straight back to the opposition only for it to eventually find the prolific Karlan Grant, who punished him for such an error with a fine finish past Sam Johnstone.

It’s not the first time this season that a Bartley error has led to the Baggies conceding either. The exact same situation happened against Blackburn Rovers when the centre-back under-hit a pass straight into the path of Bradley Dack, who slotted home seconds later.

If West Brom want to continue playing in this manner they may well have to forget about the ex-Arsenal defender.

Bartley featured 30 times in the blue and white stripes last season as West Brom only had the tenth-best defence in the league – he could well be the problem.
