West Bromwich Albion fans hope Barnes joins from Leicester City permanently

West Bromwich Albion fans will be waking up on Monday morning with smiles on their faces.

The club moved to the top of the Championship table over the weekend thanks to a 3-2 victory over Preston North End.

The win was made that much more impressive as the Baggies nicked all three points on away turf.

Jay Rodriguez opened the scoring for West Brom in the first half, but Andrew Hughes found an equaliser in the 71st minute.

An own goal from Ben Davies two minutes later gave the Baggies the lead, which was extended when Dwight Gayle hit the back of the net.

Alan Browne nabbed Preston’s second of the day but it was too late to inspire a comeback.

Harvey Barnes, who joined the Baggies on loan from Leicester City in the summer, played 72 minutes of the encounter.

The 5ft 9in 20-year-old has started all 10 of the club’s Championship outings, scoring three goals and creating two assists in the process.

The attacking midfielder looks to be a crucial part of West Brom’s promotion campaign and after tweeting his post-match thoughts, some fans urged him to stay beyond his loan deal.
