Charlton Athletic have been handed a huge boost ahead of Saturday's massive top-of-the-table clash against Peterborough United.

What's the latest?

According to London News Online, Addicks manager Nigel Adkins will be able to welcome back three players who missed their midweek trip to Plymouth Argyle. Conor Washington, on-loan Chelsea starlet Ian Maatsen and imposing colossus Ryan Inniss 'are all set to be back available' this weekend as they look to bolster their play-off prospects.

The Northern Ireland striker was withdrawn just five minutes into Adkins' first game in charge at AFC Wimbledon, the versatile left-back picked up a problem in the win over Sunderland, whilst Inniss was a surprise absentee on Tuesday night.

Big decision

All of a sudden, the 56-year-old has an abundance of options and duly has some huge decisions to make. It's an enviable, but perhaps tricky, dilemma to have at this stage of the season.

Their 6-0 romping of Plymouth moved the Addicks into a play-off position and now they face the tough test of second-placed Posh, who have a far better defensive record than Ryan Lowe's side.

The three returning players have all been among the first names on Adkins' teamsheet when fit and available but, having scored six and kept a clean sheet in their absence, the Charlton boss will surely be tempted to stick with a winning formula. It does leave him with a big headache heading into kick-off.

Washington has scored 11 goals, a feat only bettered by Chuks Aneke at The Valley, whilst the former Crystal Palace defender has struck up a very impressive partnership with skipper Jason Pearce at the back.

Maatsen has also proven to be a solid option, particularly in recent matches when he has been deployed in attack rather than at the back.

Only time will tell whether or not Adkins will tinker his starting XI for this crucial league outing.
