Charlton have been dealt an injury blow as Nigel Adkins confirmed that Diallang Jaiyesimi is set to miss the Addicks' upcoming League One fixture.

What's the latest?

According to the manager, the winger is yet to recover from a hamstring injury he picked up in the loss to Peterborough United last weekend, meaning the 22-year-old will be unavailable for selection for the trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

As cited by the Addicks' official website, Adkins said: "No new injury concerns. The only one who won't make the game is DJ but it's nice to see him out running this morning."

Huge blow

Following the 2-2 draw with Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday, Charlton now face three season-defining fixtures in the next nine days, knowing that any setbacks could see their hopes of securing a play-off position shattered.

As such, the continued absence of Jaiyesimi will undoubtedly come as unwelcome news to Adkins, as the winger has impressed since joining the club from Swindon Town in February. Prior to the Peterborough defeat, the 22-year-old had bagged one goal and registered two assists over his last five League One appearances, averaging an impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.04 in this time.

Thus, the loss of a player who poses such an attacking threat to the opposition is likely to come as a huge blow to Adkins, especially after his side failed to see out the game on Tuesday.

However, as it stands, Ian Maatsen looks set to retain his place on the right-hand side of the Charlton attack for the Accrington clash, or perhaps Conor Washington could be selected to feature in the front three in order to make up for the missing attacking impetus of Jaiyesimi.

Either way, Adkins will undoubtedly be hoping to still be in contention for a top six spot by the time the 22-year-old makes his return to the team.
