Chelsea have recently completed the £88.5m signing of electric winger Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk but could return for another marquee offensive deal in 2023 that would shatter the transfer market and send shockwaves coursing through English football.

What's the word?

Beating Arsenal to the signing of the highly-sought phenom, Blues owner Todd Boehly has issued a statement of intent and conviction as he looks to craft a team to rise to the very top of the game, capable of challenging and winning major honours across the domestic and continental front, season upon season.

And to spearhead the charge, Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane could be subject to an audacious move to Stamford Bridge, departing from the Spurs team that he has risen from youth ranks to become one of the greatest forwards in the club's distinguished history.

That's the view of former Blue, Glen Johnson who in an interview, via The Express, suggested that his ex-employers should be the first in line to make a move this year.

The former right-back said: "I think pretty much any team would benefit from signing him. Who needs him most right now? Probably Chelsea."

"Monster"

Kane's contract with the only club he has ever played for - barring loan spells - is currently up for expiry at the end of next season, and with the 29-year-old yet to taste silverware across the entirety of his professional career, for club and country, he might finally look to draw the curtain on a career with Spurs.

Having forged 413 appearances for his outfit, Kane has scored a remarkable 265 goals and provided 62 assists, and could now look to move to a club such as Chelsea that has won silverware in abundance over the past decade.

This season alone, the ace, who was previously subject to a £100m bid from Manchester City, has scored 17 goals and provided three assists from 27 appearances across all competitions, a talisman for a Spurs team looking to earn a slice of silverware under Antonio Conte.

As per FBref, Kane ranks within the top 19% of forwards in Europe's top five leagues for goals, the top 11% for assists, the top 5% for progressive passes and the top 6% for shot-creating actions - illustrating an ell-encompassing sheen to his game that will leave him in good stead to flourish at Stamford Bridge, opening the door to a multitude of dimensions from which the team can sharpen the offensive sword to slice through backlines like a knife through butter.

The "monster" - as hailed by teammate Heung-min Son - has given a career of service to Tottenham, and he could now look to fill his dusty trophy cabinet over the next few years, before the twilight stage of his career, and with the Blues building for an immensely successful future, a move across the English capital could be a prudent move for all parties.

As such, the £44m-valued "machine" - as praised by Gary Lineker - could don the pitch in Chelsea blue in the coming year, leading the line for a new era of glory at Chelsea, reviving Boehly's club as that elite striker they desperately need.

He would bring a wealth of leadership and experience, a cutting edge on the offensive front that most players can only dream of. It would surely be the new owner's best signing yet.
