Crystal Palace were heavily linked with Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey earlier this year. and Patrick Vieira's side could now seal a major coup by possibly signing him on a free transfer.

What's the word?

It was reported that the Eagles were very close to signing the Wales international in January until they backed out of the deal, so Vieira clearly holds an interest in the former Arsenal man.

Although his astronomical £400k-p/w wages at Juventus may have previously been a problem in any potential deal, it seems as if the midfielder could soon be on his way out of Turin after a disastrous spell in Italy.

According to Fabrizio Romano: "Juventus are discussing with Aaron Ramsey to terminate the current contract. Negotiations ongoing to reach an agreement in order to part ways, still not completed."

The 31-year-old still has one year left on his contract with the Old Lady, but it seems that he isn't in Max Allegri's plans for the upcoming campaign and Juventus appear desperate to get him off the wage bill, which could leave Palace in pole position to sign him on a free transfer.

A major coup for Palace

While Ramsey's time with Juventus hasn't gone to plan, his form for Wales and previous performances for Arsenal suggest that he could be a top-quality addition to Vieira's midfield next season.

After helping Wales to qualify for the World Cup with three goals during the qualifying campaign, Ramsey will be desperate for regular game-time, and he could find that at Selhurst Park.

During his time with Arsenal, the former Cardiff City man contributed an impressive 65 goals and 65 assists in 371 appearances, helping the Gunners to three FA Cup wins.

Shortly before his departure from north London in 2019, Ramsey was in top form for Arsenal and earned the praise of journalist James Benge, who said: "Phenomenal from Arsenal and especially Aaron Ramsey. How many times have we seen players go off the boil before they move? He’s in his best form for years."

If he moves to Palace and could show at Selhurst Park the form that he regularly produces for Wales, he would surely be a top-quality addition to Vieira's squad.

Therefore, if Ramsey's contract at Juventus is terminated, then the Eagles should definitely look at bringing him in.
