Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha is unlikely to move to Barcelona, Alex Crook has claimed.

What's the word?

The attacker is out of contract at the end of the season, and is assessing his options as he could leave Selhurst Park in search of silverware.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in a free transfer to add to their attacking ranks, but Crook has claimed that a move to the Nou Camp looks unlikely.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Crook stated that whilst Zaha could move, financially a deal does not make sense for Barcelona.

"This is not one that I've heard, I have to be honest," he stated of a potential Zaha move.

"His contract is up at Palace in the summer and they have offered him a new deal, but as long as that doesn't get signed obviously there's a risk they could lose him on a free transfer.

"So if somebody did come in and make a bid in January, they would have to consider it.

"Barcelona though, I think they're in the same situation they were in the summer. I think they need to remove players from the wage bill not necessarily add to it.

"I'm not convinced I can see Zaha at Barcelona."

The end of an era?

The 30-year-old has made an astonishing 445 appearances for Crystal Palace, and remained at the club despite constant transfer interest in him over the years.

However, with his contract set to run out, this would be his last chance for a big move to try and win some silverware, and it seems unlikely that he will extend his contract before considering any offers that come his way.

Should one of the Premier League, or Europe's biggest clubs come in for him, he will probably choose to end his stay at Selhurst Park, which has seen him become a Palace legend as their main talisman in the Premier League.

With Barcelona's attacking options and their uncertain financial situation, there would be many surprises if they choose to sign Zaha, but there will undoubtedly be plenty of interest.
