Crystal Palace extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a hugely entertaining 3-3 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Eagles took an early lead thanks to Christian Benteke's deflected effort after just eight minutes of action before the hosts turned the game on its head through Ben Mee and Chris Wood headers. However, Patrick Vieira's charges showed their resilience in a crazy first half, surging back into the lead prior to the break thanks to Benteke's second strike and Marc Guehi's first goal for the club.

Palace's joy was short-lived, though, as the Clarets' summer signing Maxwell Cornet secured a point for his new side just four minutes after the restart with a thunderous left-footed volley.

It was the Ivory Coast international's fourth goal in as many top-flight fixtures, and although both sides had chances to claim all three points, they ended up taking a share of the spoils in an enthralling encounter.

The south Londoners' undoubted star of the show was Benteke, who bagged a brace for the first time since last December.

He was given an eight of 10 by Football.London reporter Mark Wyatt, who was quick to laud the much-maligned striker.

"Started the game excellently and finished past Pope well with the help of a slight deflection. Not that the Belgian will mind. Missed a good chance shortly after but then smashed his second into the net after great work from Gallagher," Wyatt wrote.

As per SofaScore, the 30-year-old had 48 touches throughout the 90 minutes, made a whopping eight clearances and lost possession just nine times, highlighting his effective display.

The likes of Conor Gallagher and Wilfried Zaha have received much adulation after Palace's fast start to the season, but Benteke has now taken his tally up to four goals and one assist in 12 outings this term, showing that he is becoming the Eagles' unsung hero of 2021/22.
