It's been a dream start to the season for Crystal Palace as they continue to enjoy life under new manager Patrick Vieira, but things could be about to get even better for the capital club.

The Sun's Alan Nixon shared a few days ago that Palace's hierarchy may be about to offer talisman Wilfried Zaha a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2023.

The report states that: "Palace star Wilfried Zaha, 28, has signed up with leading agency Base. There could be a new contract in the pipeline for the Eagles attacker, whose current deal expires in 2023."

Convincing the Ivory Coast international to commit his future to the Eagles would be a huge sign of intent from chairman Steve Parish, and he'll surely be desperate for the versatile attacker to put pen to paper.

News that Palace chiefs are reportedly set to imminently offer Zaha fresh terms will have the club's supporters absolutely buzzing with excitement.

The £13m-rated wizard has established himself as the south London outfit's star performer in recent years, scoring 51 goals and providing 42 assists in 253 Premier League appearances for his boyhood club.

Zaha's standout displays have seen him continually linked with a Selhurst Park exit amid interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, and ex-Palace boss Roy Hodgson often addressed the speculation surrounding the 28-year-old.

"In many teams, there is a player of that type, a player who is a talisman and a player that the team really depends upon," Hodgson told reporters back in 2018.

"I am not sure that every day Pep Guardiola or Mauricio Pochettino have to answer the questions about Kevin De Bruyne or Harry Kane or even Eden Hazard [at Chelsea], and we are lucky that we have a player like they have, who is a game-changer.

"It is not unusual then, of course, that in a transfer window you will get speculation about interest, and we have said that we want Wilf Zaha here at Palace for as many years as we can have him."

Last summer, Zaha openly expressed his desire to have another chance at playing for a top team in order to compete for silverware, but Vieira's ongoing revolution may be enough to convince him to stay put for the foreseeable future.

Considering his previous comments, that would be a great surprise, but one that leaves the fanbase beaming from ear to ear.
