Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Danny Ings from Aston Villa this month and the 30-year-old could prove to be Patrick Vieira's own version of Brentford star Ivan Toney.

According to The Sun, the Eagles and Everton are both keen on signing the former Liverpool man in this month's transfer window, with the experienced forward potentially available after losing his regular spot under new manager Unai Emery.

Everton have reportedly already seen a loan bid rejected so it seems as if Palace will have to submit a bid if they want to bring him to Selhurst Park ahead of the transfer deadline later this month.

While he has struggled for regular minutes under both Emery and Steven Gerrard at Villa Park so far this campaign, he still boasts six goals in the top flight, which puts him level with Palace's top scorer Wilfried Zaha.

This emphasises the quality that Ings could add to Vieira's squad, particularly in front of goal, where the Eagles have struggled this season, with only five teams scoring fewer.

The Englishman could certainly help from that perspective, as Noel Whelan labelled him a "phenomenal finisher" after a strong run of form for Villa last season.

However, he is yet to produce the same sort of numbers that he enjoyed during his spell at Southampton, before joining the Midlands club for £25m in 2021.

Should Ings make the switch to Selhurst Park and enjoy regular football under Vieira, he could potentially emulate Toney, who has established himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in the Premier League with the Bees, hitting 12 goals and three assists in just 16 appearances so far this campaign.

As per FBref, Ings and Toney have registered extremely similar numbers in the Premier League so far this season, with regard to expected goals and assists per 90 (0.72 vs 0.75), shots per 90 (2.71 vs 2.75) and blocked passes (both 10).

This suggests that both forwards are clinical finishers who love to shoot and also work hard to help the team in defence with WhoScored also suggesting that both Ings and Toney excel at defensive contribution.

Therefore, the Villa man could definitely do a similar job to the Brentford star should he join Vieira's side this month and given Palace's lack of goals this season, the Frenchman should definitely be looking to do a deal for Ings.
