Patrick Vieira led his Crystal Palace team to a fantastic and deserved victory against him former club Arsenal last night, which means the side are now on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The 3-0 victory over the Gunners will be monumental for the Arsenal club legend turned Palace manager, who has now taken his side to ninth place in the league table ahead of their clash with tenth place Leicester City this weekend.

Despite only having 39% possession, fewer shots and over 300 fewer passes completed throughout the game at Selhurst Park on Monday evening, Palace did not struggle for a second to impose themselves on Mikel Arteta's side netting three goals and keeping a clean sheet.

Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring early into the game putting the home side up 1-0 in the 16th minute, shortly followed by a second goal in the 24th minute from Jordan Ayew to double Palace's lead against the visitors, before Wilfried Zaha bagged a penalty in the second half to secure an impressive 3-0 victory.

One player who wasn't on the scoresheet but made a huge impact on the two open play goals was Joachim Andersen who became a nightmare for the Arsenal side both in his defensive position in the centre-back pairing and whilst imposing himself as a huge attacking threat.

According to SofaScore, Andersen who was hailed "massively important" by Vieira was the highest-rated player on the pitch (8.2) and for good reason.

The £70k-per-week Danish defender offered up two assists, two key passes, six clearances, two tackles, won the majority of his aerial and ground duels combined (5/8) and even had a shot on target himself over the 90 minutes. As a result, he was highly effective in both keeping a clean sheet and supplying important chances for Crystal Palace in their victory.

Vieira will be now looking ahead to his clash away to Leicester on Sunday afternoon and a win over the Foxes could give them a three-point gap on their opponents in the Premier League table, putting the Eagles in good stead for a top-half finish, which would be an impressive achievement for the French manager in his first season at the club.
