Crystal Palace have been linked with a few midfielders recently in order to find a replacement for Conor Gallagher, although the man that could be ideal is Wolves’ Morgan Gibbs-White.
Pete O’Rourke has suggested that Gibbs-White could be the “perfect” replacement for Gallagher.
When speaking to Football FanCast, the journalist said:
“Yeah, very talented player clubs right at a great season on-loan Sheffield United last year. I think he was probably one of the best players in the Championship.
“So yeah, we know Palace do need attacking reinforcements in midfield next season with Conor Gallagher having returned to Chelsea so Gibbs-White could be the perfect replacement for him if Wolves do decide to let him leave?”
The Premier League side enjoyed a solid campaign last season, finishing in 12th position and Patrick Vieira will now be aiming to break into the top half of the table next year.
Gallagher was incredible at Palace last season, with his average WhoScored rating of 7.08 ranked him first in the squad, while he added eight goals and three assists and will be a massive loss for the club.
Gibbs-White is back at Wolves following a spell on loan at Sheffield United last season, where he scored 12 goals and registered ten assists in what was a productive spell away from Molineux.
The 22-year-old is reportedly stalling on signing a new contract and Wolves are willing to listen to offers of around the £25m mark for the “sensational” talent, as Billy Sharp dubbed him last season.
There is no doubt that the midfielder would be able to replicate Gallagher’s performances in a Palace shirt last season and for a fee of £25m, it could be a wise investment for Vieira.
The Frenchman should be doing all he can to add Gibbs-White into his squad before a club of bigger stature jumps to the front of the queue.
