Crystal Palace have been handed an injury boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Watford.
Indeed, James McCarthy had emerged as a doubt for this weekend’s contest having been forced off against Brighton & Hove Albion on February 29, but the midfielder was back in training for the Eagles earlier this week.
McCarthy was replaced at the interval of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Brighton, and head coach Roy Hodgson confirmed after the match that the midfielder “was feeling his hamstring” at the Amex.
The news led to a number of Palace supporters speculating who could take McCarthy’s position in the team moving forward.
However, on Tuesday afternoon, Palace’s official Twitter account posted an image of the Republic of Ireland international in “full training”.
As a result, it seems likely that the 29-year-old will be available for this weekend’s key clash with Watford, who picked up a huge three points against the runaway league leaders Liverpool last time out.
The Irishman played the full 90 minutes against Newcastle United on February 22 before starting against Brighton.
And it does seem likely that he will have a good chance of making the XI for the clash with Watford should he prove his fitness during the remainder of the week.
