According to The Sun, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Samuel Oguntayo from non-league side Kingstonian.

What's the story?

Oguntayo is just 17 years old, but he has been impressing for the London-based club, which is not too far from Palace itself.

He only made his league debut in January, but he has already shown off his impressive wing versatility, and the Eagles were even said to have scouted the teenager against Cheshunt on Wednesday - he has also accepted an offer to train with Palace's U23s next week at their Copers Cope Road base.

They are not the only side interested in the wide-man, though - both Manchester City and Leeds United have been linked with a move for him as well.

Zaha effect

In terms of youngsters to have come through Palace's academy, none are as famous as Wilfried Zaha. The Ivory Coast international burst onto the scene whilst the club were still in the Championship before he was signed by Manchester United. Whilst he failed to make the grade at Old Trafford, he has been Palace's star player since returning to Selhurst Park - last season he managed 10 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League.

Last year, Palace chairman Steve Parish spoke about how he wanted the club to tap into the "Wilfried Zaha effect". South-London provided 14% of all of the Premier League's players last season. Kingstonian is less than 15 miles away from Palace and lies south of the River Thames.

Zaha, of course, is not the only player to have grown up in the area to make it in the top flight - Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another one who came through the system at the Eagles before joining the Red Devils. And it seems that Oguntayo could be part of the plan to make the most of the talent Palace have on their doorsteps.

Given that he is currently playing at a non-league level, as well, he is unlikely to break the bank, if even cost a fee at all, and interest from a side such as City, the Premier League champions, indicates that he is a player with plenty of talent, and may be one for the future.

Meanwhile, this Palace man has been Roy Hodgson's star this season.
