Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira must swoop for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare this summer, he could make a perfect alternative to Orel Mangala.

According to a recent report in The Sun, Sangare is high on Vieira's summer wishlist with the newspaper describing him as "someone unafraid of a challenge but composed and competent on the ball".

It also rates him at £30m, which may be a lot compared to other options, but he's only 24 years old so it's an investment for the future.

He could be the perfect signing for the Eagles as they look set to miss out on Orel Mangala, with newly promoted Nottingham Forest having agreed on a £12.7m deal for the VfB Stuttgart midfielder.

Palace were linked with him as early as last week but it appears that the Reds have got there first. However, Sangare is arguably a better player, so if Vieira can pull off this signing then they can forget about Mangala.

In 29 Eredivisie matches last season the 24-year-old created four big chances and had an impressive pass accuracy percentage of 86% according to SofaScore. He also made the team of the week on five occasions showing he is one of the best midfielders in the league.

That's the same amount of chances as Mangala created, but a higher pass accuracy percentage.

It's defending where Sangare excels though, he made 2.6 interceptions per game which is significantly more than the Belgian's 0.4. He also won 63% of his total duels compared to Mangala's 45%.

Ultimately he's a better player and would add much-needed quality to the defensive midfield position at Selhurst Park. They face competition from Leicester City for his signature but could be a more attractive option than the Foxes.

The opportunity to live in a big city like London will likely appeal to a youngster, and even more so the chance to be coached by one of the Premier League's best-ever midfielders in Vieira.

He would also be able to link up with his international teammate Wilfried Zaha in South London which could potentially see him settle in quickly at the club.

A move to Palace ticks all the boxes, and the club should do everything to make it happen.
