Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey as new manager Patrick Vieira looks to complete the overhaul of his engine room options.

What's the story?

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Eagles are willing to match Ramsey's current £187,000-a-week salary to lure him back to the Premier League after becoming unsettled in Turin.

In a recent interview, the Wales international expressed his displeasure at how Juve staff have managed him regarding his persistent injury issues, claiming the national team setup knows how to get the best out of him.

"Philosophy and training methods are different in Juve compared to those carried out with the Wales national team," said Ramsey.

"In the national team, there are people who have been used to managing me for years and who know how to bring out the best in me, helping me to play many consecutive matches, as I was able to demonstrate at Euro 2020.

"I feel good when I am managed correctly and when I have the opportunity to play regularly," the 30-year-old concluded, leaving Juventus' hierarchy reportedly open to his exit.

Parish must seal Palace swoop

Ramsey’s current contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2023, but rumours suggest the Italian giants are eager to get the former Arsenal man off their books as soon as January after falling down the pecking order under Massimiliano Allegri.

Therefore, a return to English shores appears to be on the cards, and Selhurst Park could be a likely destination for the technically gifted maestro.

Securing Ramsey's signature would be a significant coup for the Eagles, and he already has bags of Premier League experience under his belt from his time at Arsenal, where he continually impressed throughout his eleven-year stay.

Ramsey scored 65 goals and laid on a further 65 assists in 371 appearances for the Gunners, winning three FA Cups along the way and earning praise for his eye-catching displays, including from Martin Keown.

“He continues to mature as a player and develop. He’s a real leader now in this Arsenal team,” the Gunners legend claimed back in 2019.

“Playing in a deeper role, as he did under Arsene Wenger – I think that’s the best role for him. If you want Ozil and him in the same team. He’s so important to everything Arsenal do. It’s the energy – the box-to-box energy. He’s become an outstanding technician.”

However, following a contract dispute, Ramsey departed the north London outfit on a free transfer ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, joining Juventus as he searched for further silverware to add to his collection.

Although he has claimed a Serie A crown and a Coppa Italia during his time in Turin, the creative talent has only started 25 league games to date for the Bianconeri, highlighting his peripheral role within the first-team squad.

As a result, Palace chairman Steve Parish must sanction a move for the £12.6m-rated Ramsey over the winter window, adding some class, Premier League experience and technical ability to Vieira's industrious engine room.
