Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Manchester City winger Morgan Rogers as Patrick Vieira continues to rebuild the first-team squad.

What's the story?

According to the Daily Mail, the Eagles are in talks to sign the highly-rated 18-year-old after he impressed during a season-long loan spell at Lincoln City last term.

The report claims that the Cityzens would demand around £7 million for Rogers and would ask for their own sell-on percentage to be included in the deal during talks with Palace.

Fans will love him

Former Reading ace Michael Olise was announced as the first signing of the Vieira era at Selhurst Park a few days ago, and he's expected to be the first of many fresh faces brought in by the south London outfit.

Palace had the oldest squad in the Premier League in 2020/21, and it's a major issue that director of football Steve Parish is expected to try and combat over the coming months.

Several ageing first-team stars have already departed the capital club on free transfers following the conclusion of their contracts, meaning multiple replacements will be needed ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The latest name to be linked with the Eagles is Rogers, and it's easy to understand why. After impressing at his boyhood club West Bromwich Albion, Man City made an £8m swoop for the teenager back in 2019.

He spent last season under the tutelage of Lincoln boss Michael Appleton, helping the Imps reach the League One play-off final, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 33 appearances.

Rogers caught the eye of his temporary manager, with Appleton lauding him as "a proper, proper footballer on and off the pitch. He's the type of player you want to work with all the time."

Palace have a recent history of exciting, pacey, skillful wingers in the shape of Wilfried Zaha, Yannick Bolasie and Andros Townsend, and Rogers certainly has the potential to light up south London just as the aforementioned names have done.

The England Under-18 international has the talent to become a fans-favourite at Palace should he made the move from City, and the club's supporters will surely be urging Parish to get this deal over the line.

With a deal for another young starlet in Olise already done, Vieira could secure his next exciting prospect in Rogers this summer.
