Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira appears to have made a decision regarding the immediate future of teenage starlet Jesurun Rak-Sakyi...

What's the word?

According to respected journalist Alan Nixon (via London World), the Eagles are set to allow the 19-year-old to head out on loan this summer, with the forward set to choose his preferred destination amid interest from Football League clubs.

The suggestion is that the teenager will decide on his temporary home in the coming days, with the League One trio of Charlton Athletic, Lincoln City and Oxford United all said to be in the running for his signature.

The Southwark-born gem is seemingly on the hunt for more regular game-time, having made just two Premier League outings last term, notably starting in the final day victory over Manchester United.

Vieira making a mistake

For most observers who watched that display from the youngster against the Red Devils, it would come as a surprise to learn that he is not set to be part of Vieira's first-team plans this season, with the Frenchman arguably making a mistake in allowing such a highly-rated talent to depart.

The Arsenal legend had himself lauded Rak-Sakyi for his impressive, albeit brief, impact at senior level following that clash against United, stating: “He played two games against Chelsea and United, so it has been challenging and difficult. But he showed some quality, and he is a really promising young talent.”

That talent has also been obvious at youth level of late, with the 5 foot 7 menace netting 18 goals and providing five assists in just 25 Premier League 2 games last season, with Dan Cook previously likening his talents to that of team-mate Wilfried Zaha.

There could be an argument that a loan exit is needed for a player who has enjoyed just 80 minutes worth of senior game-time in his embryonic career thus far, but on the contrary, the £450k-rated prospect could well flourish as part of Vieira's youthful setup at Selhurst Park.

The 46-year-old has reportedly decided to keep teenage summer addition Malcolm Ebowei - who was playing in the Championship with Derby County last year - in his squad this season rather than sanction a temporary move, and it's something of a head-scratcher that he won't afford the same chance to Rak-Sakyi.

Tipped to have a "big future" by former Eagles boss Roy Hodgson, the England under-20 international will hopefully blossom into a key figure for the south Londoners in the years to come, although it could well prove to be a mistake in the short-term to let him leave.
