It wouldn't be a transfer window for Crystal Palace without Wilfried Zaha being linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, but the latest reports might well concern Eagles fans.

What's the word?

According to Italian Sky Sports journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Palace have "offered" the winger to AS Roma, as Jose Mourinho is very keen on bringing the Ivory Coast international to the Stadio Olimpico.

The report also claims that the south Londoners are interested in Giallorossi striker Felix Afena-Gyan and that, while there have been no negotiations between the two clubs as of yet, it is implied that a swap deal could be on the cards.

Supporters will be gutted

Zaha's contract at Selhurst Park is set to expire next summer and the club will want to avoid losing him on a free, but considering his legendary status at the club, fans surely won't be happy to hear him being touted for the exit.

The 29-year-old has made 429 appearances for the Eagles, contributing 83 goals and 73 assists in that time, and 2021/22 was his best goalscoring season in a Palace shirt.

The former Manchester United forward hit 14 goals in just 33 Premier League appearances, averaging an impressive 6.99 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

Therefore, he is clearly at the peak of his powers right now and it would be very disappointing if Palace were to cash in on him, so supporters will surely be hoping that he can be convinced to sign a new deal in order to put these Roma rumours to bed.

Vieira was full of praise for the winger last season, saying: "Wilfried is a fighter. He stays strong and on his feet and I don’t want him to change his game at all. He’s a goalscorer. He’s a winner. He can play in any ground and be ready for it."

Therefore, it is a big surprise to hear that he has reportedly been offered to Roma, and supporters will be desperate to see him stay at Selhurst Park this summer, especially after such an impressive 2021/22 campaign.
