Ahead of the summer, Tottenham Hotspur's potential transfer plans are perhaps the most intriguing of any Premier League side. After two years of performing beyond expectations to challenge for the Premier League title, the north London club have now reached a financial crossroads.

Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino have preferred to spend modestly and develop from within, but bumper contracts are now in order to keep the heads of some of their impressive young stars from turning, whilst improving the squad will require significant investment via the transfer market.

Attacking midfield appears to be a key area in Pochettino's thinking, with The Daily Star claiming Spurs have turned their attentions to Swansea City's Gylfi Sigurdsson after discovering Everton's £50million price-tag for Ross Barkley.

But the 49-cap Iceland international hardly uprooted trees when he was at White Hart Lane before and due to turn 28 in September, he wouldn't exactly be a long-term signing.

With that in mind, we recently asked Spurs fans whether they'd back a summer swoop for the £25million-rated ace and according to our poll, a slim majority of 58% would be in favour of such a deal.

But is he really the summer signing to take Spurs forward? Let us know by commenting below...
